That time of year again
The frogs started spawning in our ponds at the end of February, possibly the earliest on record for our garden. The number of clumps of spawn has also been record-breaking, but generally the adult frogs have been quite elusive, partly because of the windy weather which always unsettles them. Today they were slightly more obliging, and allowed me to approach closely without feeling the need to submerge.
Another mild and windy day, good for getting a few garden tasks completed, including the first cut of those parts of the lawn that don't have spring bulbs present. I also pruned some over-large shrubs and the young fruit trees. Still lots to do, but I now feel that we will get it back into some sort of order after the tree felling and general winter battering, which have left it looking quite sad..
