Dawn's rosy fingers

I went to a small private girls' school where the ancient Greek language was taught right alongside Latin, French, and proper English grammar. So we got to read the works of Homer in his native tongue. At the time, I didn't really appreciate the beauty of the epithets Homer used in describing the mythological gods. For me it was hard enough just to grasp the meaning and to keep all the gods and goddesses straight! But I do remember the goddess of dawn was called Eos, and she was described as having rosy fingers.
This morning as the sun rose, I saw what Homer must have been describing.
Youth sure is wasted on the young!
