Work in Progress
This is my work basket that can be carried from room to room in a quest to find the warmest one. This third weekend of strong winds brings with it draughts that are no respecter of anyone sedentary which means a room with only one window is preferential to an open plan one with too many.
I have temporarily forsaken the hat in the basket which I’m making for a friend who is journeying to Norway at Christmas. This is like an assignment that doesn’t need to be handed in for ages and so there is no immediate hurry to finish it while I am struggling to get the hang of crocheting in the round and keeping the same number of stitches on each round. There must be something in my brain that has not yet connected with the logic of positioning the slipped stitch and chain at the beginning of a new round. But I am nothing if not determined and it seems have managed three rounds managing to retain the same number of stitches on each, so some sort of progress has been made.
My party anxiety is high today as I am going to a house warming one tonight. It’s not so much the socialising that worries me, rather the getting out of warm clothing and into cold, thin party wear. It brings back memories of all those early children’ s parties when I had to put on an uncomfortable party dress and be dragged on public transport (no cars in the dark ages)to the home of the party giver. In my mind it always seemed to be cold weather and I would much rather have gone in my everyday warm clothes. I always appreciated the invite, but not the taking of it up.
However, I’m a big girl now and know I will enjoy this one once I’ve stopped shivering.
