A lovely walk in the woods and a cup of tea and long chat with Nellie of the Woods. She showed me her Kombucha mushroom and a taste of the tea - actually not as bad as I thought it would be! I had a boyfriend who had one in a large bucket - it really didn't look at all appetising and no way did I want to taste it. It seems as I've got older I'm more willing to try such health giving things - I wonder what else I will be trying as the years roll on?!
Tomorrow starts week 5 of the kitchen and it's finally beginning to take it's toll on me! It's not the builders who are real sweeties, not the upheaval in virtually every room, the noise or the dirt, but the feeling of being restricted that is getting to me. It's not so bad when it's a wet, miserable day, but when it is sunny it is hard being stuck to the front of the house when the back is south facing and sunny! But the good news is construction instead of demolition is occurring! The floor is laid and the walls and ceiling are being painted! This week lights and sockets go in and the wood burner, and the fridge and freezer should be moving back!
The enlightening thing is how little I have needed to carry on cooking as usual. I prepare food on top of the cooker and bring down what pans and utensils I need. Which has made me think how much of the kitchen stuff currently upstairs do I really need?! I'm thinking of bringing things back into the kitchen as I need them - what is left upstairs can either stay there till the rare occasion I need it or can be given away!
