Hand fed swan

As we needed the exercise anyway we walked to Morrisons again today. As we passed the lake all of the ducks rushed to us expectantly. So at Morrisons we bought two loaves of bread, one for the ducks and one for the birds at home.

On the way back we were surrounded by ducks, coots and the two resident swans. No matter how much we tried this swan could not beat the ducks to the bread. In the end he demanded to be fed by hand. 'A' says his bill was quite scratchy when it caught him.

Although the bread is not nutritious our philosophy is that something is better than nothing, and that at least their tummies must feel a bit fuller. They were so desperate that we gave them both loaves. Still can't be sure they all had some.

PS - 'A' said the coat and his rucksack made him look big. He is tall, but he is not big. He was well wrapped up, neither of us got cold today.
