Keep Oban Beautiful

A wet start to the day, tho' it's turned out sunny since then. I went down to the office of BID4Oban, our local Business Improvement company, who have sponsored Keep Oban Beautiful by paying for the design, manufacture and erection of a banner which will be going up above the road in George Street, here in Oban. They've also paid for an advert in the Oban Times for our Oban Spring Clean, which will take place during the week leading up to the last weekend of March. This will be our third voluntary Spring Clean. MKM, our newest Builders' Merchant, have agreed to give us litter pickers, gloves, hi-viz jackets, Tee shirts and bags too. I return they'll get lots of mentions on Facebook and a picture in the Oban Times.

The idea was for BID's CEO Andy Spence and me to hold the banner up outside BID's office, but it was raining hard so we did the picture inside. No point getting the banner soaked when it would have to be dried and put back in the box awaiting the Council's lighting guys, who will be putting it up! My Blip today, not as sharp as I would like, is of Andy holding the banner up for me while we were waiting for the Oban Times reporter to arrive.

My extra, for the boat buffs, is the Isle of Mull coming in this morning - with Mrs M on board!

Quote of the day:

Tom Weir, 'East of Kathmandu' - "There is something very tiring about being stared at by a large number of people."
