The Sizzling Sausage...
...or more like the 'Soggy Sausage', as taken through the rain-soaked windscreen of my car this morning whilst sitting in the car park of a well known chain of DIY stores.
The reason I was sitting looking at the Sizzling Sausage for the second time in two days is because of the inadequacies of the computer system used by this particular company. Apparently they had one tin of the specialist paint that we needed in stock yesterday. So, I went along then to buy it (the Sizzling Sausage was doing a roaring trade then). Of course, when I got to the shelf it was empty of said product! So, they kindly offered to order it for me, but couldn't do so, because their computer said they had it in stock. A helpful assistant told the computer it actually wasn't in stock but apparently it takes at least 10 ten minutes for the computer to re-set itself, so I did some unnecessary browsing then went to find the assistant again, to try again to order it for me, but she had disappeared. So I waited another 5 minutes then went to the Service desk and spoke to another assistant but the computer still said there was one in stock and so they still couldn't order it. I gave up and went home and eventually we ordered it, (the computer had updated itself by then). So...another trip today to pick it up (another 20 mile round trip)...and another view of the Sizzling Sausage.
PS: The staff in the store were very helpful but were just as frustrated by it all as I was, I suppose we're all used to computers returning instant results these days, just annoying to have to waste petrol travelling there twice.
