Bad Choice?
The day dawned grey but we thought to visit Kailzie Gardens to catch the snowdrops, hoping for coffee in the cafe, as signage indicated. It began to rain as we drove, heavier as we arrived. But the place was deserted, a notice on the door informed us that only at the weekend was the cafe open, so we turned round and revisited Nashy's, the popular and friendly cafe at the old station in Cardrona, for hot rolls and strong coffee.
After a brief stop in Innerleithen we took a route home along the Leithen Water, up into the hills, where rain and sleet turned to snow, obscuring what is usually a fine view to the North. We joined the main roads at rush hour, making slow progress through more rain.
Were we downhearted? Not a bit, we were looking forward to our belated Pancake Day for which Miss Flum would join us.
