Amaryllis

At long last my amaryllis has burst into flower. The blooms on the first stem and although the second stem is not yet in flower it looks like there will be three flowers there too.

I had hoped to carry the plant outside and photograph the flower against a blue sky .... no such luck ..... it has been dull and wet all day so instead of a blue background my piece of black velvet material was a substitute.
