Sunny Funchal - now that’s more like it.

I felt ready to tackle the coastal path this morning. It was fabulous weather, sunny and blustery at first but by the time it got to midday, we had 24 degrees. 

The world sparkled. I stopped for a peppermint tea at the Magic Tea Room (the best €1.10 you’ll spend anywhere.)

I took the bus back into town from above the caves (still shut) and enjoyed the bustle of Carnaval day. The atmosphere is building. The Parade starts at 20.00. 

Four Monarch butterflies were proving elusive in the gardens but one settled briefly.

Now, this is the true spirit of Madeira.
