My cousin Nick was born a week before I was; my Grandma was already in her sixties and her three daughters all had their first babies in 1961, so that year she was in seventh heaven and knitting furiously!

Nick is going to celebrate his 60th birthday next year with a new guitar. He built one before with Bailey's Guitars in Ayr - it's a real labour of love. It will entail two or three trips from his home in Lincolnshire up to Ayr over the course of the next year, and in return for B&B at our house on the way, he takes me out to dinner. Tonight we went to the Steamboat Inn at Carsethorn.

These are the inlays which Nick has made for the fretboard of the new guitar. His last one featured moons so for this one he designed them with suns.

We have had a great catch up and shared plenty of memories of Grandma, who lived to be 103 :-)
