Turquoise Water

The Pukaki River only flows when Lake Pukaki is full, otherwise it is a dry river bed. The lake overflows down the spillway into the river bed, and flows through the Mackenzie Basin into Lake Benmore. Lake Pukaki is well known for its beautiful turquoise water.

I'm home in Wanaka now after a great trip away to the North Island.
