Here's A Frood Who Really Knows Where His Towel Is
So, I have completed another marathon. This was a tough one. When I left the hotel at 05:00, the rain was torrential. While waiting to catch the bus at JR Kyoto Station to take us to the starting point, it was still torrential. Thankfully, by the time we arrived at the starting point in the stadium it had become a heavy drizzle, and then, when we came to line up for the start of the race, it was a light drizzle. It rained intermittently throughout the race, and it was quite slippery and treacherous running along the muddy bank of the river. Thankfully, I didn't slip.
Despite the poor conditions, I was pleased with my time; 4:32. I ran the whole course, no walking, apart from 500 meters just before the 39 kilometers marker because my fingers started tingling and I started to feel light headed, so I took a couple of ion charge tablets and walked while I chewed them and let them take effect. Within about thirty seconds I felt fine again.
It was nice to see Mike again, cheering everyone one. He came out to support in 2017, as you can see in this Blipfoto.
Feeling good now after a nice, hot bath. Time for something to eat and an early night.
Extras - taiko drummers and geisha supporting. Wonderful.
