Yellow jacket

What is this doing flying around in February? My daughter caught it, and it looked large and mean, so we wondered whether it was a wasp or a hornet. Apparently it’s a yellow jacket, a type of large wasp that some sources describe as even more aggressive than a hornet. Lucky that we trapped it and despatched outdoors away from the house!
