Hand feeding
I didn't know I had a blip stalker until last night when I received an invitation to visit Leighton Moss today. This is the hand of the stalker's son as he tempts a robin to his hand on the path to the Eric Morecambe hide. Don't look too carefully or you will see the dirty little fingernail.
The robin population of both main parts of the Reserve have staked their territories along all the main paths, with one every 50 metres or so. And this is why, the visitors in recent years have taken to bringing food for them and they have all learned to take the opportunity. There was even a great tit competing with a robin on the way to the Lower Hide, with a small army of blue tits not quite bold enough to try their luck.
A bonus for the day was that Mr & Mrs Stalker & Son also brought along Billy Boy, who I hadn't seen for 18 months or more.
A good morning out before the storm arrives.
