Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2020 Wednesday — Back Yard Done

While the 3 guys were working on our floor installation this past Saturday, one of the younger guys told Mr. Fun that he also works for his dad doing landscaping. One thing led to another and quickly we had an estimate to do weed cloth and gravel in three-fourths of the back yard. All we’ve had for ages is weeds and weeds. Every few months we have a gardener come “weed whack” and spray the weeds. Mr. Fun has never been a yard person and much of that stems from his having had terrible allergies as a kid.

My parents originally purchased this house because my stepdad was a “frustrated” farmer. He loved growing a vegetable garden. The lot is pie-shaped so the back yard is huge.

So Monday late morning we received a call from the landscaper, Carlos, telling us he could start the job that day instead of doing it the next two Saturdays. I was thrilled because I want to get back to the Central Coast.

The landscaper and his brother did some prep work in the back yard Monday, some more on Tuesday, covering all the dirt with the very best weed cloth we could purchase at Lowe’s, and then today the gravel truck arrived; once the truck drove away the guys started pushing one wheelbarrow of gravel after another to various places in the back yard. At 3:30 the job was complete.

In the back yard photos if you look carefully at one square, you can see both of our sheds. Mr. Fun’s shed is in the “way back” section of the yard; my shed is much closer to the house on the other side of the yard.

“Low maintenance” is our motto. In other to be able to move about the planet, we must have a low maintenance lifestyle at our house.
