A young seal appeared to be stranded and judging by the frost on the beach it had obviously been there before the last high tide just after midnight.  After reading up about seal pups it seems that it was old enough to fend for itself but someone had contacted the SSPCA to make sure.   (In order not to frighten it I did not get too close)   Extra  The sun had melted much of the heavy frost leaving the seed heads looking like sparkly silver flowers.
