2020 Thursday — Reel Lumber Co

I discovered Reel Lumber back in November on my birthday weekend when we went to the holiday boutique at Lavender Marketplace in Sierra Madre. One of the vendors who makes beautiful wooden cutting boards told us she gets her pretty wood at Reel Lumber.

So I found the Social Media pages Reel Lumber is on and joined their pages. Then I discovered that the lumber company offers workshops occasionally — all women workshops to learn how to use power tools and make things. I’m interested in that.

Then they started announcing this new product and to come see the reveal. So we did that today. It was very interesting and included lunch.

The hemp plant is now being made into lumber. It is much more eco friendly than growing and cutting down trees and Reel Lumber is the first place in the U.S.that it is being sold. It is grown and manufactured, or maybe I should say processed, in Murray, Kentucky. The growers who are only producing marijuana or CBD oil are not utilizing the valuable stalks of the plant. So HempWood <hempwood.com> is the company on the cutting edge of this new product.
