Returning to the outside world.
I won't tag this for Flower Friday because the sunshine was too bright and the flowers aren't the main subject and "we still had so terribly far to go." That's a line from a song I can't remember the title of at the moment. After ten hours of driving, getting breakfast, fruit and dropping people off in Queenstown we are back in Christchurch at the lovely daughters house. Te Anau to Christchurch is 641 km or 398 miles.
We had the most fabulous time in Dusky Sound and were almost oblivious to the 100 year flooding happening further north of us. Our weather was showery rain not a deluge. The only reason we knew anything was a miss was when the skipper had a radio message to say the passengers coming on the boat after us were stuck in Queenstown due to road closures. We were happy to stay on and extend our adventure but of course it didn't happen and a convoy of traffic was aloud through and the weather cleared and the helicopter came in to fly us out to Te Anau. On the drive today there was evidence of where rivers had crossed the highway in places.
I will be slow catching up with you all but it will happen. Only 964 photos to sort through. The overcast conditions really made for some wonderful photos and I am excited to see them on the laptop. The rain also meant the waterfalls were streaming down the steep sides of the sounds.
