Well Spotted
I cannot start today's blip without thanking absolutely everybody who commented, starred and faved my red kite yesterday - totally overwhelmed by the response and thrilled to bits obviously!!
This chap was well spotted and so was I unfortunately, in what I thought was a cunning disguise - a black woollen warm hat thingy, but they, a male and female saw me coming and flew off. Not surprising really when I saw myself in the mirror afterwards!
Coming into the peanuts on an otherwise quiet day were the usual blue and great tits, loads of chaffinch and jackdaws. All the waterfowl normally around were in the Severn estuary, way away where they could plouter around in the shallows which weren't frozen like the lakes and pools around Slimbridge. The moorhens pottered around and a water rail which proved illusive to the twitchers had appeared earlier - I think they thought I was pulling their leg when I said I'd seen it - ah well - early bird....... :))
I did manage to catch a lovely bullfinch who stood out against the snow but in the bushes quite a way off!
