the best laid plans of mice and men ....

Men in this particular case being builders.

I feel sorry for them, I really do.  They are nice guys and work so hard, starting at about 7.30 each morning.  They've had a number of setbacks recently and the only thing that seems to keep them cheerful is Anniemay's fruit cake (fresh from the oven).

They've been waiting over two weeks for a delivery of concrete so they can start work on tidying up the site, building retaining walls, laying paving and hard standings for cars etc.

Today's the day.  The driver of the concrete lorry successfully negotiates the tricky access and as he begins to pour, the builders notice that it's the wrong sort of concrete.  Who knew there was such a thing?

Discussions take place around the pile of no longer wanted grey stuff; phone calls are made and it appears that the supplier has got his ratios wrong.

With shoulders drooping, they clear up the mess and retire to their hut for a cuppa.  Sadly no cake today to soothe their pain.  And that is it, I guess for another couple of weeks.
