Friday night

My Friday night tonight was all about finishing this. It’s taken me two weeks to get through the seven-hundred and twenty pages and I’ve wanted to ferociously devour it but savour it all at the same time. I sobbed through it for about an hour this evening and still haven’t finished. In my challenge to always try and read fifty books in a year, I often end up reading some fairly mediocre stuff. This, however, has been all-consuming and wonderful (and, at time, hideously depressing). I suspect I’ll be thinking about it for a while afterwards.
