Lightly Dusted

The lion of Arthur's Seat lies brooding under the lightest dusting of snow. He dominates the view from the Meadows towards the east and is a permanent barometer of the city's weather.

Today he stands stark against the grey sky, but he can often disappear behind low mist, or look a magnificent mythical beast against a deep blue sky.

He is the playground of people and dogs and today of all days there will be sledges a plenty careering down his sides.

Here in the city centre the snow is a minor irritant as it decides whether to stay or go. Large swathes of grass have appeared on the Meadows and the snowmen have called it a day, collapsing into giant snowballs.
We have been warned there is more snow to come tonight. It's not over till the fat lady sings, as they say.
