The constraint of rules
What with feeling crook and expending my scarce energies on a hunt for Mother Dunch I once more rolled up at day’s end with no photo.
I’ve been messing about with the mark-up feature in the iPhone’s photo editing so it seemed a good time to do some more messing about.
I loved the amphora in the garden of the Osteria del Porto in Poppi. It’s probably made by the guys who run the restaurant and a small family ceramics business.
You might wonder why there was a port on the Upper Arno. It was used to amass timbers for ships, the Duomo in Florence etc in the summer. These were then floated down the river in winter spates before the Arno was domesticated.
I listened today and yesterday to George Eliot’s Silas Marner on Bbc Sounds audiobooks. It gets a bit stodgy in the middle but a wonderful novel and convincingly read. Great ending too.
