Shrimp

This morning we had a boat trip through a quiet canal fringed with coconut and mango trees out to the Muthurajawela saltwater lagoon.

Kingfishers, egrets, purple herons, yellow bittern, cormorants, blue-tailed bee-eaters, monitor lizards and baby crocodiles. This fisherman very happy to show us his catch. Small nets, just fishing for what they need rather than to sell.

In the afternoon, travelled to Dambulla, an enjoyable 4 hour journey through towns & villages watching people go about their daily routines. Crazy driving (not quite India crazy!), colourful scenes.
