Black Bun is not for Weight Watchers

This is ‘Black Bun’, a traditional cake of loveliness traditionally eaten at Hogmanay and New Year. It consists of a very rich fruit cake encased in very rich pastry and is therefore eaten in small slices.
This is a big slice, kindly given to me by EcoDad and will be my dessert for three suppers although I have nibbled the edge already for a small taster.
It would probably be eaten at Hogmanay with a wee dram of the hard stuff, but I’m not a fan of that tipple and I dare not open another bottle of Bayley’s.

It’s a beautifully sunny day today, beguiling with the promise of an early spring, but unfortunately the forecast says otherwise. Still, it is so lovely to have the sun streaming through the windows giving me the feel good factor even though it shows up dust everywhere. That can be attended to when the snow comes.
