Garden Birdwatch

Today was the start of the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch. A dismal overcast day and not a lot of birds around. The chaffinch wasn't the most unusual but he's such a handsome fellow!

Our best species hour was  Noon - 1pm when we had 14 species recorded:-
Blackbird, blue tit, chaffinch, coal tit, collared dove, dunnock, goldfinch, great tit, greenfinch, mistle thrush, pheasant, robin, tree sparrow, wood pigeon.

At other times of day we also recorded:-
Bullfinch, house sparrow, jackdaw, nuthatch, redwing.

19 species in total, the most exciting being 10 redwings in our tree.

The Mate came round for a planning meeting of our World Tour of Ireland. I've never been to Eire. We ended the evening with a DVD: Chicago.
