Boy in the Bag

Work - one or two surprising comments/digs that I let wash over me for the sake of a quiet life. Not long to go.

2 deliveries of hiking kit this evening including bargainous 4 season sleeping bags from Mountain Whorehouse (as it’s known in our house). The Boy declared his much warmer than his existing 3 season sleeping bag but still refused to be photographed!

Options evening at school for Princess. Or limited options evening as I feel it should be called - and did raise with the head of school and other SMT members.

So she has to do the 5 compulsory subjects - English Lit, Eng Lang, Maths & double science. She would also like to copy her older siblings and do a humanity (history) and a language (French currently but about to rotate to Spanish so that may change).

Unlike her older siblings who then had 2 options left so could do triple science and a ‘fun’ subject, Princess only has 1 more option. A total of 8 qualifications (no massaging of Progress 8 figures going on there?) with the emphasis being put on conflicting statements of ‘broad & balanced curriculum’ alongside ‘focussing on the subjects they will achieve the best results in’!

So Princess is weighing up between Media Studies BTec and Triple Science. The only alternative, if she wants to and is capable, is to do triple intensive - 9 lessons a fortnight taught over 6. Interesting conversations and decisions coming up.
