First of the year

Bought a bunch of daffodils in the supermarket last weekend not really thinking that they’d be in the way all week while I decorated, anyway they survived being moved around and at times covered with the polythene sheet and now opened they stand out quite nicely against the wall, the long straight stems matching the geometric lines on the paper.
Spent the morning tidying up the debris left by decorating, and a quick tidy through the rest of the house then a quick tip trip.

This afternoon we attended the funeral of our neighbour. A lovely friendly gentleman who we’ve lived next door to for 30+ years. He’s always looked old having suffered an industrial injury many years ago but the last two or three have seen him deteriorate with other illnesses affecting him. He had been in hospital for the last seven weeks and although it was expected the end came quickly and quietly in his sleep. RIP Ken.
