Hello Old Friend

Another long day, I had sorted the car yesterday and packed yesterday, so after a breakfast of porridge and coffee I defrosted/de iced the car and was on the road for 06:00 heading north.
I arrived in York at around 1:30pm in time to meet one of my oldest and dearest friends for coffee before the funeral service of another of our friends, Phil McClung.
More a celebration of Phil’s life than the traditional funeral there was a good turn out and Phil had the send off he deserved.

It’s often said that old friends can pick up where they left off and so it was with Billy and I. We speak regularly but today was the first time we had been face to face for sixteen years and as we sat and chatted and spoke with Phil’s family the years rolled back and we were just two old friends catching up over a beer or three and as usual the last to leave.

Overnight I was accommodated in the Stableside @ York Racecourse. Built to house the stable boys it was more hostel than hotel style but comfortable enough.
