Power cut

Tonight we had another power cut. The second lengthy one in two weeks. This one lasted just over an hour. Others have been only seconds. There's some house building underway further down the road. I assume it linked to that. It's a shock when the whole village loses it light.

The positive of course is candles. I'm a huge fan of candle light and get through a lot of them this time of year, but usually later in the evening when all jobs are done and I'm settling myself on the sofa. It was a treat to break from the rountine and drop down a gear. I'm reminded of something Roger Deakin wrote in his wonderful 'Notes from Walnut Tree Farm'; "Candle light illuminates darkness. Electricity kills it."
