Sorting the pantry
After a very slow start to the day after our late night last night, our job for today was to sort out the pantry. We've just bought a chest freezer, to replace the upright one we had in the pantry.
We cleared the stuff off the shelf on the right, which this morning still spanned the entire length of the wall. Then W took it down to the workshop and cut it short, and sorted out a support for the free end. The freezer that was in the pantry is now in a corner of the kitchen, and we carried the new one in from the garage (using slings underneath to enable yours truly to carry it despite the wrist in plaster!). We've now replaced some of the stuff on the shelf, chucked out some stuff that was way out of date (and never going to be consumed) and put some old cereal to one side to put out for the birds. I've ordered more shelf supports, so we can put up yet more shelves.
Once we've washed out the new freezer we'll switch it on this evening, and tomorrow we can move the food from one freezer to the other. There's still work to do to sort out the rest of the stuff, but we've made good inroads.
Now W is cooking roast veggies for dinner, and I've got a gin. Lovely gentle, but productive Sunday.
