Wanaka Challenge

There are a lot of aspects to this event and often The Boss says it is difficult to decide what to photograph but he does have a soft spot for the bikes and as the biking section follows the start and swim there is time to find a good spot with some light before the leaders come through.
The panning on this one is not as perfect as he might have liked but it carried the feel of the day which started out windy and cold and had us all wishing we had brought some more clothes. Then disaster struck and this is not the bit where the lady competitor overshot her pickup position and quickly turned back to collide full tilt with the bloke behind. It was the even worse disaster which was conveyed by the sign on the coffee cart. "Sorry the generator has blown up" and forced The Bossess to move to the heart of town, which was deserted at that time and not only get a Latte to go but a hot chocolate with marshmallows for The Boss who was feeling pretty cold. I even got a liver treat out of her special bag and cooperated while The Boss shot pics with his iPhone for the DIG groups February theme..."Feet". Sorry details of this are embargoed for now. One of the neat features of an iPhone is the ability to very easily turn the camera sound off. Can be handy.
Well I better go and get prepared for the inevitable Bloody fireworks which follow this event. They should donate the money to the SPCA instead or lower the costs of drinks or something which would be less intrusive to all the loyal K9 supporters that were out there today. I think The Boss has a noisy movie in mind.
