Mad or heroic!
My word! You see some sights in this weather!
Yes, I know the snow had been forecast for today for the best part of a week but it still catches everyone by surprise especially by the severity of it. I went to bed at 11.30pm last night and there was a fair bit of snow that had fallen by then. I got up this morning and it looked much the same. Shrug! No big deal really!
Drat! Just while I was typing this I just noticed a huge gooey lump of minty chocolate stuck to my jumper. Marvellous! I knew I had some left somewhere!
Sorry, where was I? Oh yes.... It started snowing again at about 9ish soon after I had eaten my scrambled eggs with mushrooms, onions, cheese, oregano and black pepper. It started snowing and just didn't stop. Listening to local radio, everyone was congratulating each other on how well the West Midlands were coping, with the airport still open and traffic flowing normally. A couple of hours later, the programme disintegrated, schools were being closed by the ton and there were reports of broken down buses and cars blocking roads!
After lunch of leek and potato soup with a ham and red onion sandwich, I went upstairs with my camera and got some great shots of people walking past the pub at the top of the road in their coloured hats and scarfs, sledges on the car park and people just walking carefully down the frozen road. I was quite happy and was just about to trundle downstairs when the front door of one of my neighbours burst open and the eldest boy (about 13) who is always chucking his footballs over the fence in the summer came rushing out of the house only wearing his jogging bottoms to retrieve something his mischievous little brother had slung out of the window. I could hear all the childish giggling with my window still open for taking pictures. He didn't see me! Well, he wouldn't have expected the mad woman from next door to be taking photos out of the top window! Quite happy, I shut my window and went back downstairs. He didn't hang around either.
Track? Well, going out in next to nothing in this weather must surely make you either mad or heroic! Here is a cracker from fabulous David Bowie - Heroes
