What a foul day today, High winds over night coupled with heavy rain meant the A1 just East of Edinburgh was closed for the second time in a few days. I hope people follow the warnings this time, last time some lorries didn't and ended up being blown over and causing even more chaos.
Epiphany is past, but Christmas is officially with us till Candlemas on the 2nd February, 40 days after Christmas.
M&S is ready for St Valentines on 14th February though, which I guess is a slight improvement on many shops for whom Easter is already the focus.
Today the carpet fitter didn't turn up. I waited an hour.
Had a wonderful Cursillo Epiphany party with party pieces and carols and of course lots of good food, so that appeased me a little.
It's Jon's birthday today so we popped down there with his gifts this afternoon along with a book I had bought for the girls. I spotted it on Amazon and it seems to have been highly rated. A Poem for Every Night of the Year. 366 poems of everything from A A Milne to Shakespeare.
I enjoyed dipping in and I think the girls will like having one read each night. Eilidh's reaction was identical to mine, she looked up the date of her birthday to see which poem was there!
One of the first which I spotted was for January 2nd. https://youtu.be/ikBpK6i7-u8
It's by Edwin Morgan, The Loch Ness Monster's Song I hadn't come across it before. Brilliant, I enjoyed reading it aloud to the girls, who found it hilarious.
