King Tides

Exceptionally high tides happen a few times a year, when the moon is closest to the Earth, and the Earth is closest to the sun. John and I drove to the north coast to see this wonder, and take photos to submit to the King Tides Photo Initiative. It's a project where everyone is invited to take part by taking photos of impacted areas. The rain was just blowing sideways when we got there, and then pretty much stopped for the next two hours! It was so wild and wonderful. We did beach clean-up on the Columbia River side, the ocean side was way too wild to even venture to the beach. And I have over 200 photos to sort through...
The blip is taken from the observation tower at the South Jetty, looking toward the mouth of the Columbia.
