Thyroid: One Year On

Exactly one year ago today, I was sitting on a hospital bed, waiting to go up to surgery and have a thyroidectomy, after being diagnosed with a wildly overactive thyroid just six months earlier.
The photo on the left was taken after the surgeon came in and "labelled" me with a big black arrow to remind himself where to cut...(!)
The photo on the right is my neck today, exactly one year on. My scar has almost faded, and my neck no longer has a big lump in the middle of it. Good times.
It's a winding road towards full recovery, but pleasingly, I finished off the year yesterday by being offered a permanent job working as a PA to two professors. What a difference a year makes!
