Reaching the top

Here is Gus on his second ascent of Arnside Knott of the day. He is slow but steady as he climbs the hill now, and this does give me chance to get ahead of him to be in position for a shot as he comes over the crest. It had been a grey day, not as bad as the forecast the day before had suggested, and as it brightened slightly when we came home from Wifie's second Tai Chi class of the week, we went out to try and get the first blip of Gus in 2020.  The light was failing fast and we were pushing our luck for a photo.

He is looking a bit weary, probably wondering why I was dragging him back up the hill again. But he is always willing. And he had his reward in the woods on the way down when he met a spaniel who was on heat. There is life in the old dog yet. He needed some gentle encouragement to keep heading homewards.
