A January Walk
A, G and I went for a walk around the lake at Blickling this morning. It was cold and windy and overcast, but the sun broke through at times. I wasn't feeling too good so it was more of a struggle than I was expecting - just no energy. By the time we came out of the cafe after a warming cuppa there was a bright blue sky!
'Withering and keen the winter comes
While comfort flyes to close shut rooms
And sees the snow in feathers pass
Winnowing by the window glass
And unfelt tempests howl and beat
Above his head in corner seat'
An extract from January: A Winter's Day by John Clare
