Graduands

This is Tommy Scott, world-class saxophonist, performing after receiving his honorary degree from The University of Edinburgh this evening. He is in miniature, real form at the front of the stage. To his right, in the wooden throne, is the Princess Royal.

I don't normally go to graduation ceremonies for fun - they rarely are - but this evening five people were getting honorary degrees from Edinburgh, including the guy who set up the Homeless World Cup. All five graduands were great value, and the Princess Royal said some wise words about how integral communication is to universities. (Well, I think they're wise as they pretty much justify my job.)

After a long day in Bristol yesterday, I took today at a steady pace. Now settled down with an episode of Boardwalk Empire, plus blankets and a hot water bottle to supplement the heating on what is such a cold day.
