Diary of an Edinburgher

Success. Sort of...

A day of wrong decisions (re food) but right decisions (re sofas). And it rained.

We went on the bus (free!) through to Glasgow to see a sofa we liked, but the local branch didn’t have it. We needed to actually sit on it. I anticipated a quick decision to buy it, so it was with great surprise that when we saw it in the flesh, it didn’t look right... Great! I was in quick with my opinion that we don’t actually need new sofas, there are things we can do to make ours last a bit longer. JR came round to the new idea surprisingly quickly - ie: spend the money on a holiday instead.

We'd taken a taxi to the shop, which was out of town a bit, but took a bus back into town (it was raining). We stopped for brunch in a tiny neighbourhood cafe, one of those which could be a wee hidden gem, or not... It was not. Lunch (a sharing plate which sounded good) in a chain restaurant - one we've enjoyed on many occasions down south - was disappointingly mediocre. We did a pub crawl popped in to several groovy pubs in wonderful big old grand buildings in the town centre before heading home again on the bus.

Archie had a nice day with his pal Rufus.
