A Mini Road Trip

A little outing with Naturelover. I don't know about other U.S. states...but we have a couple of weekly TV shows that highlight spots in Michigan. That's where I found out about this museum.

You can't go very far in our state without seeing a bronze statue created by Marshall Fredericks. From a huge statue of Christ in Indian River...to his most famous statue...The Spirit of Detroit. The Detroit cast is in the foreground...holding the sun(?).

Shelley and I hit the outdoor pieces first. Dinosaurs, baboons, bears, fish, eagles, lions, and males and females without any clothes on. I made Shelley pose in a couple of window reflections. I put those on my Flickr Page.

The inside was mostly filled with the casts that were made before turning into bronze. And, also his workshop. The "lost-wax" process of making statues has always fascinated me. So many steps...so much talent.

After touring the inside...we found a few more statues outside...among them...The Circus Performers. I took out the 4 volleyballs I always travel with, and had Shelley snap my picture doing a little juggling. It's also on the other page. I'll leave it up to you whether to believe it or not.

We talked about our Blip friends, camera equipment, old and future vacations, and our grandchildren. After seeing her son-in-laws new bike shop, and her buying me lunch...we returned home.

Button it into LARGE to see Shelley admiring the art work. I had to ask her just once..."Stat-you...Shelley...is stat-yuo?"
