Steeples
Here is the church...
here is the steeple.
Open the doors...
and see all the people.
Church steeples. Why do we have church steeples? How about 4 reasons? And...for at least the first one...I'll have to scramble to the dictionary.
1. Architecturally speaking...they are very pleasing to the eye.
2. They force your eyes heavenward...looking up to God. (If only our minds and hearts would follow.)
3. Many of them contain bells. The higher the bells in the belfry...the farther the sound can travel.
4. Lightning rods. Sometimes the metal on the top is more than just a cross or the church insignia.
Represented here..we have the Episcopalians, the Catholics, the Presbyterians, and the 7th Day Adventists. The Adventists steeple on the far left needs some work. Maybe as a good deed in the Spring...I'll volunteer to heft a ladder up there, and paint it. OR NOT!!!
My favorites are the one in the center, and the one on the far right. They both seem to have a little more "character" than the others.
Keep your eyes heavenward...and PLEASE don't say anything about me having bats in my belfry. Thank you.
