Glasgow 2014 legacy project at Camlachie

Another busy day and another day of poor photography opportunities (or complete lack of imagination..?). Also, given that this is a 'photography' blog, a shot of the now vacant and defunct Jessops that I pass en route to work would seem like too obvious a choice for an emergency blip...

I've blipped several times now about the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games environmental legacy projects we're working on. The design team we appointed back in August have been working away frantically and presented their draft proposals to us just yesterday. We have a consultation event with technically minded people on Friday this week (including The Gajin Abbot if he can switch his technical mind on!) and community events next week including the slightly wacky one out in Camlachie which we are running as an arts event with Glasgow based artist Alex Wilde.

Today's blip is a bit of a cheap shot on my behalf as it's a photo of erz's visual of one of the proposals for the Camlachie project. Camlachie is in the east end and the eagle eyed may notice that the big thing in the background is indeed Parkhead. We're really chuffed with the current proposals which will turn this vacant site into a truly first class multifunctional space, in line with the objectives of the project that we conceived way back when. Some of the many functions that this scheme would provide include sports pitches, flood water attenuation, wetland habitat/biodiversity, a flexible event space, outdoor seating, shading and interest from the tree planting and interesting walking routes.

Well I don't think I've ever used that many links in a post before and hats off to anyone that has actually read all of the above... Must make more of an effort tomnorrow with the camera and get back to short, snappy posts...
