Next month I have to go abroad again for a conference. Unfortunately I find that my passport has expired.
That's not entirely true - it will run out on the 23rd May, and my return from the continent will actually be on the 21st May - 2 days to spare, you would have thought. Not on your nelly, there doesn't seem to be an immigration department anywhere in the world which will let anyone in without at least 3 months left.

Somehow I feel short-changed.

Anyway, I decided to get it renewed, and for that you need a photograph.
I can't believe that I have spent all this money on decent camera equipment, only to find myself in a passport photo booth spending £3.50 for the priviledge of getting 4 identical crap photos when I only needed 2 in the first place.
The pictures were hideous. My colleagues told me they were an excellent likeness.

So I thought I'd personalise them a bit and get some value for money.

So I filled the form in, and when it came to the signature I noticed the form should be done in black ink. So I put down my blue pen, and re-did the form in black.

I am pleased to say that the head size on my new photographs come within the accepted range, and now that the form has been filled in in black ink, there is no risk of them delaying the application.

Job done.
