Back in the UK and down to the duckpond after work
The connection at Munich last night was supposed to be 35 minutes at best. The plane left Vienna late and arrived in Munich with 20 minutes left, and we had to walk/run very fast to get to the next gate and made it with 5 minutes before takeoff. The gate-man told us that they knew the connection was tight, and so they delayed the take-off just for us. How nice. So we made the connection.
We discovered in Manchester that our luggage had not.
They promised to deliver the luggage to our office today and very efficiently (Lufthansa) informed us that the cases had arrived from Munich and were now in the hands of the British carriers. The Carriers will let us know the ETA. It is now Saturday evening, and I'm still waiting for the call.
My Austrian boss informed us that Munich does not tolerate delays, and tight connections will inevitably result in this sort of thing. He recommended that like him, we should go via Swizerland. So why didn't he tell us this before we booked the flights?
My colleagues tell me you can wear the same underpants for 4 days if you turn them round on day two, and then inside out for the next two days.
Luckily I have plenty at home.
