Flat calm

2.6C with bright spells in the morning . Thin grey cloud slowly moving in through the afternoon.

Since the ground was frozen I decided that Maeve the Deerhound and I would try our usual route today. We walked up past the church and down the field to the shore. The farmer has collected up all of the remaining bales of straw and put them in two rows near the bottom of the field. Two trailers are loaded and sitting near the path, ready to be towed away. The tractor has been driven along the edge of the field where the path is, which has very usefully flattened out a lot of the bumps and ruts in the path.

The tide was further out today. A lot more of the rocks were visible. We passed one dog walker as we wandered along towards the Fishermen's huts. The owner of 'Shamara II' was standing talking to someone today, but doubtless he was working away in the cold again.

The man that lives in the end cottage was gathering seaweed with a garden fork and putting it at the base of the driftwood fence at the bottom of his garden. The fence is right at the edge of the beach. We stopped for a chat and he said he would cover the seaweed with sand. It helps the sand stay in place and protects the fence and the garden from the high tides.

We walked down onto the hard sand where the channel comes through the rocks to the beach to get this shot. Very calm today, with quite flat light. The light has changed dramatically each day this week.
