Pretty Fly (for a blip guy)
While trying to shoot something else (ie: something interesting) for today's blip I noticed that I was being watched by a gigantic horse fly sitting patiently on the wall.
It was so big that I initially mistook it for one of those fire-fighting helicopters that have been buzzing around. This isn't actually a macro -it's a wide angle. That's how big the damn thing was...
;)
Truth be told, I have no idea whether or not this is a Horse Fly. I can't find anything similar using Google image search, or the online "What bug is that?" If any entomologically inclined blippers know what it is please leave a response -or feel free to pass it on to a friend who might have an idea.
All I know is that it is large (2 cm) and loud. It has split "feet" (each foot splits into a little "V"), and a large light-brown abdomen with a dorsal black stripe. I also couldn't see any sort of little suction cup thing that normal flies have as a mouth.
Anybody know?
