Pinteresting Times

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellows,

This is taken from the foyer of the Lighthouse Cinema Cuba, it is an arthouse cinema on Cuba Street where Tiger, Joshua and I went to see the new "Star Wars" film.

To be honest, I was not as enthusiastic as the other two. Joshua wanted to see it at MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT which, I am sorry, was never effing happening. And even Tiger texted me "Evening Rebels! When are we infiltrating the Death Star tonight?"

But it was fine. It was a big Star Wars film and it had cute little robots and critters and a final final showdown (no, really, we mean it this time) between good and evil.

But I am burying the lead here. My hot news is this:

WE HAVE BOUGHT A HOUSE!

KIND OF BY ACCIDENT!

SERIOUSLY. WTF?

What happened was this. Yesterday evening Caro put an offer on the house I told you about on Tuesday. Earlier in the week, we had done all the boring due diligence stuff you have to do, and then last night we totally low-balled our offer. Honestly. What we were offering was just STUPID. They would NEVER accept it. ESPECIALLY given the level of interest in this place.

I thought of it purely as a trial run for the real thing. A dipping of one's toe into the property market, if you will. Don't get me wrong - I LIKED the house, but if we didn't get it, no big deal.

Anyway. One hour later, all the other buyers had dropped out and the vendors had accepted our dumbarse offer.

"Did we just buy a HOUSE?" I asked Caro.

So the answer is yes and no. The offers is conditional on lots of things like our qualifying for the loan, the legal shit and building reports and all that. So there are hoops we have to jump through first. HOOPS, I say.

But, all being well, we will have bought a house. There is a bit of a delay because Xmas is in the middle of everything, but our completion date is January 31st, so we'll move in early February.

If you are excited then let me tell you that no you are not. You want to know who is excited? FEEFS, that's who. Caro called her yesterday evening and she went through the effing ROOF.

"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! THAT IS SO EXCITING!!!! I'M GOING TO START LOOKING AT HOUSES TOO!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!"

As for Caro, she has done all of the work, all of the organising, all of the paperwork and has just today arranged for the builder's report. Now she is putting together a Project Plan on all the things she wants to do to the house and in what order.

"And I'm going to start a Pinterest board," she told me.

I'm not sure what that is. It sounds expensive.
