Great Spotted Woodpecker

I always love to see these woodpeckers, so I was both surprised and pleased to see this one in my garden! Not the best photo in the world but what was I to do with such a non-compliant subject and a none-too-clean window through which to photograph?

A day filled with doing the things that need to be done at this time of year.....

Mum's due to be discharged from the intermediate care unit tomorrow. Praying that all goes smoothly and that she quickly adapts to life at home after such a long stay in hospital!
